Friday
the 13th: The Series on DVD? |
I wish... But there is a site dedicated
to TV shows on DVD. They don't promise that any shows
you vote for will make it to DVD, but you never know
who might be reading. ;^) Head on over to www.tvshowsondvd.com
to see what is going. Or if you would like you can
head straight for the Friday
the 13th: The Series entry to cast your vote.
Please allow me to indulge for a moment. I am really
into progressive rock music (Yes, ELP, Kansas, early
Genesis). There are three bands from the current generation
of prog rock bands that I really like. There are plenty
of others, but these guys are in the player 85% of
the time it is on.
Spocks
Beard
This is the cover from their forthcoming
album, Snow, scheduled to be released
on August 27, 2002. I have heard a taste of
it and I expect it to be a masterpiece! The
style of Spock's Beard is along the lines of
Yes meets the Beatles meets Dream Theater. They
employ all the elements I love about progressive
rock. I have enjoyed these guys since 1995.
Check out the Spock's Beard website for all
the details.

Enchant
This is the cover from their latest album, Blink
of an Eye, available now. These guys are
fantastic together. Their style is what I think
would happen if Kansas had a much harder edged
sound. Most of this thought probably comes from
the fact that Ted Leonard (vocals) sounds very
much like Steve Walsh in the early days of Kansas.
They have gone through some lineup changes recently
but have kept their style throughout remarkably
well. I have been enjoying these guys since
1993. Check out their debut album, A Blueprint
of the World. It is truly a classic album.
Head on over to the Enchant web page for all
the details.

Echolyn
Echolyn is a band that I disliked the first
time I heard them. So, I sold the CDs. Later
I started to really appreciate the music. So
much so that I had to pay double price to get
the albums back. ;^) They have now created their
masterpiece with Mei, available now.
As with all of these bands, these guys are a
very nice group of people, very approachable.
They frequently respond to questions on their
yahoogroups mailing list: astheworld. Their
style is very difficult to describe. Their trademark
sound is their use of three part harmonies.
My best attempt at describing their music would
be Gentle Giant meets soundgarden. I told you
it was difficult to describe. ;^) I found out
about these guys in 1991, but I've been enjoying
them since 1993. ;^) Head on over to the Echolyn
web page for all the details.

A death
in the F13:TS family. |
Many of you probably remember Denis
Forest from several episodes ("Cupid's Quiver",
"Brain Drain", "The Mephisto Ring",
and "My Wife As a Dog"). It has come to
my attention that he passed away on March 18th, 2002.
Apparently, he died of a heart attack. I don't know
his age, but I'm sure it was well below where people
start getting concerned about heart disease. A tragic
loss to be sure...

It's
finally here! |
Well, after realizing how much traffiic
this site gets, even after years of no updates, I
decided it was time to update the site. I created
the site back in January 1995 because I wanted to
learn HTML. Things have changed greatly since then.
Now we are here in 2002, so I hunkered
down and learned how people are doing web pages now.
This page is a direct result of that research. I hope
you like the new interface. Along with the new interface
comes a fancy new message board. Take advantage of
it. I used to get so many emails asking the same questions...
mainly about where to find tapes of the shows. Now
you should be able to use the board to find people
to trade shows with.
I plan on continuing to refine the
site. Soon, you will be able to rate the episodes
on a 1 to 5 star rating system. I already know which
one I'm giving 5 stars. Keep an eye out for that change.
Currently, some of the handles are in but won't be
functional for a while. I need a few more hours free
to learn more PHP and MySQL databases. Phew! Also
if there is enough interest, I will create specific
topics in the forums for each episode and link them
in the episode guide. That way you can all give your
own reviews on each episode. Don't forget to vote
in the poll. I'll change it periodically, too.
Well, I hope you enjoy the pages.
If you have comments, send them to the contact address
below. I can't promise that I'll be able to implement
them, but if I like them I'll try harder. ;^)
